I received these tights from The Stylish Fox, a USA based hosiery retailer that specializes in European hosiery brands (such as Trasparenze, Cecilia de Rafael, Fiore, Marilyn, Silvia Grande, and Veneziana).
Fiore is a very nice quality Polish hosiery brand with a wide range of offerings from sheer to opaque and solid to patterned. Their hosiery is divided into several tiers, with the Roza style as part of their Classic line. This is the third style of tights by Fiore that I have reviewed (see Fiore Raisa Elite 120 Den).
While these microfiber tights are not from the Elite line, they have a nice quality about them when touching the material. The packaging is on par with other Fiore hosiery packaging I’ve seen before, such as for the Fiore Paula 40 Den. I got these in size 5 (XL) and in chocolate, which is a good warm brown color.
The Roza style is made with 86% nylon and 14% elastane (microfiber), which is a very soft and light feeling material. While matte in appearance, there’s a smooth finish to it that is good about avoiding the snags you get with typical microfiber.
The brief is made from a different weave of the same material and you can see the shift from the leg to the brief at about and inch or two below the crotch. The brief is just about average in size. The waistband has a comfortable width (just under 4cm), made of a thin material that is different from the brief, and comes to rest about an inch above my navel. It gives a reasonably good hold without digging in. The size 5 does not have a gusset, and instead features a back comfort panel.
There are good quality standard seams used throughout. The toe seam is rounded to conform to the arc of your toes and feels comfortable.
The Roza style comes in 4 sizes: 2, 3, 4, and 5. I found size 5 to fit me fairly well, especially considering my proportions are a little outside the size chart dimensions. I had to over stretch the tights just a little, but it didn’t sacrifice comfort, only a little on opacity.
These do feel like 60 denier tights, in that they are light on the legs and breathe well. Wearing under trousers, there is reasonably good glide and lack of binding. The ankles remain reasonably opaque, so they could pass for socks in appearance. I generally do not like the extra seams of a back panel, but they work fairly well in this style as long as you can get the seam to run along the crevice at the top of your leg.
- Fabric – 86% nylon (polyamide), 14% elastane (Lycra microfiber)
- Sizing – See chart above.
- Opacity (0 – sheer, 10 – total opaque) – 7 when standing, 5 when bending (will probably show more opaque with lighter colors).
- Durability (0 – frail, 10 – like steel) – 8.5
- Waistband – 37mm width, thin material, and very soft.
- Support – none.
- Reinforcement – invisibly reinforced toes.
- Colors – From what I’ve seen, these are offered in Black, Navy, Chocolate, Tan, Graphite and Rubine (plum), depending upon the retailer.
I think these are a fine choice in tights for a reasonably priced light weight 60 denier made of comfortable microfiber. You can find them for $7.99 at The Stylish Fox. You will also find other Fiore hosiery styles there, so I recommend checking out their website.
The photos came out a little more opaque than they actually look, though still of reasonable density for me to be satisfied.
